The Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a one-year, $4.75 million contract with Matt Joyce, avoiding arbitration.
Los Angeles acquired Joyce in a December trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Joyce is expected to be the primary designated hitter for the Angels, while hitting second so that Mike Trout can hit third.
