The Texas Rangers are still pursuing the possibility of adding Cole Hamels from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Texas has remained in contact with Philadelphia, according to a source. Money appears to be the stumbling block.

Hamels is guaranteed $96 million over the remainder of his contract, which ends with a club option for 2019 at $20 million.

A year ago, Hamels included the Rangers among the teams to which he would accept a trade. He can change the list annually.
