The Giants' pursuit of free agent starting pitcher James Shields is reportedly over.

According to ESPN analyst and SiriusXM radio host Jim Bowden, the Giants "are out on Shields."

Additionally, the former GM is reporting that the Giants were "never in" on the top free agent on the market, Max Scherzer.

While the Giants may not be adding either of the free agent starting pitchers, Bowden reports that the Giants are still trying to work out a deal for Rays infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist.
