The Los Angeles Dodgers have made the signing of Brett Anderson official, removing the possibility of signing Max Scherzer or James Shields this offseason.

The Dodgers have $88 million committed to six starters next season, including Dan Haren, who will pitch for another team.

"I don't think our intention ever was to sign one guy and punt on the fifth spot," general manager Farhan Zaidi said. He said any additional starters imported would be "depth options."
