The San Francisco Giants have a hole a third base following the departure of Pablo Sandoval.

Buster Posey won't be replacing him.

"Buster's a catcher," Brian Sabean said. "He's a franchise player, a franchise catcher."

Posey was a shortstop in college at Florida State University but has played exclusively catcher and first base for the Giants.
