The door might well have opened just a crack on the possibility of a return by Max Scherzer to the Tigerrs.

Both team president and GM Dave Dombrowski and Scherzer's agent, Scott Boras, made statements over the last few days that sound more open to revisiting the situation.

"I have no idea," Dombrowski said on Friday of the chances of Scherzer's return to Detroit. "I wouldn't even expect to at this point. Again, it's only the middle of November. He has Scott [Boras] as his representative and he generally doesn't move things quickly. So I wouldn't even think I'd have a pulse on that."

Boras, speaking with Jim Duquette and Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio on Sunday, gave indications that the market won't move fast for Scherzer, who many consider the top free-agent pitcher on the market.
