The New York Mets have signed Michael Cuddyer to a two-year contract.

Cuddyer, 35, will earn $21 million in the deal -- $8.5 million in 2015 and $12.5 million in 2016, according to a source.

The Colorado Rockies had issued Cuddyer a qualifying offer, meaning New York will have a surrender a draft pick for signing the slugger.

"Michael is a tremendous addition to the middle of our lineup," Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said in a statement. "He is a proven offensive threat who also brings versatility in the field with the ability to play multiple positions."
