The Royals announced that they have claimed outfielder Moises Sierra off Outright Waivers from the White Sox.  In a corresponding roster move, the Royals have designated right-handed pitcher Liam Hendriks for assignment.

Sierra, 26, split the 2014 season between the White Sox and Blue Jays, batting .230 with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers and 22 runs scored in 96 games combined.  It marked his third Major League season as he made his debut with Toronto in 2012, playing in 49 games.  He was a member of the Dominican Republic Team which won the World Baseball Classic in 2013, highlighted by a catch he made going into the stands here in San Francisco.

Hendriks, 25, came to the Royals along with catcher Erik Kratz in the July 29 trade that sent third baseman Danny Valencia to Toronto.
