Matt Wieters had season-ending Tommy John surgery in May, but that hasn't stopped him from contributing to the Baltimore Orioles.

Wieters has become an extra coach for catchers Caleb Joseph and Nick Hundley. During the final week of the regular season, Buck Showalter even sent Wieters on the road to scout the Detroit Tigers prior to the ALDS.

With five days to prepare for the Kansas City Royals, Wieters has had a lengthy chance to scout their basestealing threats prior to the ALCS.

Wieters has also helped Joseph and Hundley get comfortable with Baltimore's pitching staff.

"There's no way I could have gotten acclimated as quick if it weren't for him," Hundley said.
