The New York Yankees have given the San Diego Padres permission to interview Billy Eppler for their vacant general manager position.

Eppler is New York's assistant GM.

In addition to Eppler and two current Padres executives -- assistant GM A.J. Hinch and senior VP Omar Minaya -- the list of those who have received interviews or will interview includes ex-Miami Marlins GM Larry Beinfest, Los Angeles Dodgers scouting director Logan White, Boston Red Sox assistant GM Mike Hazen and Texas Rangers assistant GM A.J. Preller.
