Released by the New York Mets last June, Rick Ankiel has reportedly retired.
Ankiel is now hoping to find a front-office job somewhere, according to St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Dan McLaughlin.
He has been one of the most intriguing players of the past decade because of a transition from pitcher to outfielder.
Ankiel played for six teams, hitting .240 with a career .422 slugging percentage and 76 homers.
