The Baltimore Orioles introduced Ubaldo Jimenez, who they signed to a four-year, $50 million deal, on Thursday.

Jimenez was extended a qualifying offer by the Cleveland Indians, which means the Orioles had to part with a first-round pick in order to sign him.

"We made that conscious choice to put those resources into our current team on the starting pitching staff and that's what we felt we had to do to stabilize our team and be competitive in the AL East," Dan Duquette said when asked about parting with the pick.
