Cole Hamels is dealing with tendinitis in his left biceps and will not be ready to pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies on Opening Day.

He will open the season on the disabled list, but hopes to return at some point in April.

"I see myself pitching in April," Hamels said. "It's not any pain or discomfort. It's just the building up of muscles. When you start, you can't run a marathon right off the bat. You have to build up to it.

"Not too far behind [Opening Day] I'll be ready."
