Manny Machado has been hot early this season and is hitting his way into elite company.

Machado entered this weekend with 70 hits, the second-most in the Major Leagues. His hit total is the most by any player under the age of 21 in Major League history before June since 1921, according to STATS.

Ken Griffey Jr. recorded 66 hits before June back in 1990.

"He's willing to put in the work, and it has paid off for him," Buck Showalter said. "He has taken it to another level defensively for us."
