The Yankees could get Mark Teixeira back as early as Thursday when they battle the crosstown Mets.

Teixeira has yet to play this season because of a torn wrist tendon sheath.

He is eligible to come off the 60-day disabled list on Thursday, but a return next weekend against the Red Sox may be more likely.

"I think anything is possible at this point," manager Joe Girardi said. "As long as he has no setbacks, I know there is a plan for him to play in some extended spring and then go someplace else on a rehab."

Teixeira injured himself on March 5 while taking some swings at a tee with a weighted bat preparing to play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.
