Justin Verlander lasted less than three innings against the Texas Rangers on Thursday night, giving up six hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

It marked his shortest outing for the Detroit Tigers since pitching two innings in a 14-6 loss to the New York Mets on June 22, 2010.

Verlander had allowed just four earned runs in four previous starts at Rangers Ballpark.
