The Mets optioned outfielder Lastings Milledge to their Triple-A Norfolk farm club Thursday night. The move created roster room for pitcher Brian Bannister, slated to start Friday night's game against Philadelphia. Milledge, considered the Mets' top position prospect, batted .239 with four homers and 18 RBIs during two stints with New York. He was squeezed out of playing time when the Mets acquired right fielder Shawn Green on Tuesday. Earlier, the Mets designated outfielder Ricky Ledee for assignment to make room on the active roster for Green.
