The Rangers have already installed A.J. Pierzynski as their starting catcher.

Ron Washington made it clear during a conference call on Wednesday that he will not platoon Pierzynski, a left-handed hitter, with Geovany Soto.

"As far as playing time goes, A.J. is our guy," Washington said. "Geo will get some playing time. A.J. is going to be the front-runner."

Pierzynski is in line to be the first Rangers catcher with 120-plus starts in a season since Pudge Rodriguez in 1999.
