Several hours after dealing All-Star slugger Carlos Lee, the Brewers made another move to patch up their injury-riddled infield Friday, acquiring third baseman David Bell from the Phillies for minor league righthander Wilfrido Laureano. The move came three days after the Brewers received utility man Tony Graffanino in a trade with the Royals. Bell, 33, overcame a slow start this season to bat .281 with six home runs and 34 RBI in 91 games with the Phillies.
