The Orioles have signed veteran right-hander Joel Pineiro to a minor league contract. Manager Buck Showalter has been operating this season without a designated long reliever, and Pineiro could ultimately fill the void. He is expected to join Triple-A Norfolk this week and be part of the rotation there.
