Brandon Phillips didn't expect to remain in Cincinnati when news broke that Joey Votto had signed a 10-year, $225 million contract extension with the Reds. "I thought I was gone," Phillips said. "I really didn't think this was going to happen, ever." It did happen. On Tuesday, the second baseman signed a six-year contract worth $72.5 million that will keep him with the Reds through 2017. "I'm not going to lie to you. This is probably the first time I've ever been nervous," Phillips said during his press conference. "I cried about this. This is where I wanted to be."
