The Red Sox dropped to 1-4 on Tuesday night after Daniel Bard struggled in his first Major League start. Boston lost 7-3 to Toronto. Bard allowed five runs and eight hits in five-plus innings, walked one and struck out a career-high six. "He pitched good enough to win if we scored some runs," Bobby Valentine said. "Not quite the results we were looking for and I know he's a little disappointed but you take that 30 times a year, you're going to get a lot of wins out of it. I'd bet anything on that." Bard made 192 relief appearances before his first start.
