Hal Steinbrenner raised eyebrows when he said earlier this week that the Yankees will reduce their payroll, but Brian Cashman doesn't want fans to panic. New York will work to get their payroll under $189 million before the 2014 season. "We're still the Yankees," Cashman said. "We're still going to outspend everybody else. That's not going to change. We're still going to be there for our fan base and try to make sure every year that they have legitimate hope that this can be a special season." The Yankees want to avoid the luxury tax threshold, which will force Cashman to make some difficult decisions over the next two years.
