The Cubs were believed to be listening to offers for Matt Garza earlier this offseason, but they now are adamant about signing him to a long-term deal. The right-hander won't be a free agent until after the 2013 season. "We have a good relationship with Matt," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "We need more Matt Garzas. We'll sit down to talk to him about a deal. We're hoping to get something worked out, but you never know and we'll keep it private when we do."
