Despite reports that the Red Sox were in the hunt to sign Roy Oswalt, Ben Cherington said the team is unlikely to add a pitcher in the near future.
"I wouldn't rule out adding a starter, but it's unlikely at this point," the general manager said.
Earlier Wednesday, a Major League source said Oswalt still has not decided where he will pitch next season and that the Red Sox "had a great chance" of signing him.
Cherington added that he has had no meetings with Oswalt.
