The Yankees have been quiet this offseason, but general manager Brian Cashman insists that the club has improved and that they are still monitoring things. New York signed CC Sabathia to a new deal and re-signed Freddy Garcia. They also selected two players in the Rule 5 Draft. "We're trying to use every tool in the box," Cashman said. The Yankees have been linked to free-agent starter Edwin Jackson in news reports, but that's not likely to happen unless there's a bargain to be had. "I think we're good enough to start the race and be one of the teams people are afraid of," Cashman said. "I'm going to have to improve it over time. I'm staying engaged with free agents and trades."
