The Nationals have been linked heavily to first baseman Prince Fielder, but general manager Mike Rizzo has spent the past few weeks dispelling constant speculation. Rizzo has downplayed interest in signing Fielder at every turn, but he has never completely shut the door on the idea. A report by The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel earlier this week claimed that the Nationals were the favorites for Fielder, but team sources maintain that his price must go down in order for Washington to become serious suitors. Fielder's agent, Scott Boras, is said to be seeking an eight- to 10-year deal along the lines of the 10-year, $250 million pact Albert Pujols signed with the Angels earlier this offseason.
