The Red Sox could use another starting pitcher to fortify their injured and struggling staff, but they don't feel there is anyone better than what they have on the market. Any acquisition would have to clear waivers and at this point in the season he wouldn't be eligible for the postseason roster. Boston manager Terry Francona was asked about the possibility of putting Alfredo Aceves in the rotation, and admitted the team had discussed and "Maybe we'll have to" but Francona is resisting that because he feels Aceves is so valuable in the bullpen.
