Cubs manager Mike Quade plans to look into Starlin Castro's on-field preparedness. Quade was alerted to criticism from ESPN analyst Bobby Valentine during Sunday night's 6-2 loss to the Cardinals. Cameras showed Castro, 21, not paying attention and reaching into his pocket for sunflower seeds during pitches in the sixth inning. "I'll have to talk to my infield [coaches] about that," Quade said. "I don't know. The sunflower seed thing, guys stay loose with sunflower seeds, whatever. I don't know. I'll have to talk to [Cubs third base coach Ivan DeJesus] and [bench coach] Pat [Listach] about that. I didn't recognize anything. "I probably tend to focus when there's a situation that I'm expecting him to be involved in more than anything else. But I'll have to ask those guys about that. Maybe call Bobby, see what he saw."
