Having let go of general manager Jim Hendry, the Cubs are setting their sights on replacing him with an experienced executive. Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts has set his sights on Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, but Cashman has said he has no plans of leaving the Yankees despite the fact that his contract is set to expire. Regardless of whether or not Cashman is a legitimate candidate, the Cubs are looking for a seasoned executive. Asked if he would interview current assistant general managers, Ricketts replied, "I'm not sure yet. "There's obviously some good (ones) out there," he said. "If one of those candidates would have interest, then we would speak to him but ..."
