The Phillies and Red Sox are among the most aggressive suitors for Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran, according to major league sources. Other teams remain in the mix for Beltran, who returned to the field on Tuesday night after missing three games with the flu. The interest in Beltran is so high that New York could trade him several days prior to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline and pay less of his 2011 salary than initially expected. The Mets would love to acquire top-shelf prospects and save money by dealing the outfielder.
