Diamondbacks right-handed pitching prospect Jarrod Parker is starting to pitch better for Mobile of the Double-A Southern League after missing 2010 season following Tommy John surgery.
In 18 starts, Parker is 8-6 with a 4.08 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 86 innings, but the Fort Wayne, Ind. native has been very effective over his last 10 appearances.
He is 5-3 with a 2.25 ERA over that stretch, including a strikeout per inning. Since May 26, opposing batters are hitting just .216 against him.
Arizona drafted Parker with the ninth overall pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Norwell High School (Ossian, Ind.).
