With the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaching, the Phillies are looking for bargains.
Philadelphia has been telling teams that they can add roughly $2 million in salary. They are reportedly within $3 million of the $178 million luxury tax threshold.
For example, the Phillies could add Padres reliever Mike Adams and Royals outfielder Jeff Francoeur for $1.7 million over the remainder of the season and still stay within their desired budget.
