Yankees general manager Brian Cashman won't seek a contract extension from the team in the middle of the season. Cashman's current three-year, $6 million deal expires after this season, which could put an end to his 14-year reign as New York's general manager. "If I couldn't do it with Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter and [manager] Joe Girardi, how can I do it with myself," Cashman said of in-season talks. "I can't be a hypocrite. It will come up at the appropriate time." Cashman's name has been linked to the Cubs, who could be searching for a new executive this winter.
