San Diego Padres first baseman Mark Bellhorn stepped up the plate and cranked a 438 foot home run into the bleachers at Petco Park yesterday, setting a new long ball record at the two year old stadium. The record was previously held by a 434 foot shot by Sammy Sosa. Incidentally, after Bellhorn's home run, Cardinals' slugger Albert Pujols hit a 436 foot home run to eclipse Sosa for second place.
