Braves second baseman Dan Uggla, who is slumping, was given an unexpected day off on Tuesday. Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez made the announcement before the game against San Diego after speaking with Uggla. "Anytime I'm out of the lineup," Uggla said, "it's not my idea." The second baseman has just four hits in his last 47 at-bats -- dropping his season batting average to .178. "You're not going to walk your way out of a slump like this, so I'm trying to be aggressive," Uggla said. "It's all timing. I've just got to get my foot down. If I get my foot down, be on time, everything will fall into place. It almost seems like it's that easy."
