Mets owner Fred Wilpon apologized to Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran via speaker phone in the visiting clubhouse at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. Wilpon made candid comments about the team, including stars Reyes, Beltran and David Wright, during a magazine interview recently. "It surprised me a little bit, like everybody else," Reyes said of Wilpon's comments. "The only thing I can control right now is to continue to play. So he's the boss. He can say whatever he wants to." The controversy led Terry Collins to address his team Tuesday. This was Collins' public description of his message: "We just addressed that we've got to focus on things we can control, and that's how we play on the field."
