Yankees infielder Eric Chavez has gotten the boot off his injured left foot and hopes to return to the field in the next few weeks.
"We're hoping for just a few weeks," Chavez said. "When I went and saw the doctor, it was about as good a diagnosis as I could get."
Chavez was originally diagnosed with a broken left foot, but he said Thursday that upon further review, the injury is actually a bone bruise.
"Just basically dealing with a deep bone bruise," Chavez said. "And the doc feels pretty good that in two or three weeks it's gonna feel good."
