The Yankees gave third baseman Alex Rodriguez the day off on Saturday because of the slugger's struggles and the team's busy schedule. Rodriguez is in a 3-for-23 slump and hasn't homered since April 23. New York is in the midst of a 16-game stretch without a day off. "You look and he has played seven days in a row. Maybe today is a good day [to rest]," manager Joe Girardi said. "Has he gotten away from using his legs a little bit? Maybe." Before the slump, Rodriguez was batting .370 with five homers, six doubles, 16 RBIs and a .483 on-base percentage in just 15 games. He average has since dropped to .290. "I feel OK," Rodriguez said when asked about having tired legs. "I'll take a day off and just get some rest."
