Roger Clemens has come out and said that he will not request a trade this season. "I won't ask to be traded," he said in yesterday's editions of the Houston Chronicle. "Even if the Astros want to trade me, they're going to have to sell it to me. I fought for a long time to come home and play. I didn't think it would be this good." There has been constant speculation that Clemens won't finish the year with the Astros, who have been struggling all season. The Yankees are an obvious trade destination. A published report last week said Clemens would be willing to accept a trade to the Rangers. The Red Sox are thought to be a long shot. Of course, if you believe Clemens and Astros owner Drayton McLane, the Rocket will just stay put. "I can't foresee any circumstances under which we'd trade Roger," McLane told the Chronicle.
