The Blue Jays have named Jose Bautista their starting right fielder. Toronto will move Edwin Encarnacion to Bautista's position at third base, while Juan Rivera will be moved from right field into the designated-hitter slot. Bautista spent the majority of last season in right field, where he finished tied for second in the American League in outfield assists. Blue Jays manager John Farrell believes that Bautista's strong throwing arm is better suited to the corner outfield slot and gives the club a better overall defensive unit.
