Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran went 0-for-5 on Saturday in his first formal game since March 6. He played in right field for five innings against the Triple-A affiliate of the Marlins. Beltran, who is looking to avoid a season-opening stint of the disabled list, was shut down earlier this month with left knee tendinitis. Beltran pronounced his balky knees OK afterward and said he would again play five innings in a minor league game Sunday.
