Rays 2B Jorge Cantu tried to play through the nagging pain in his left foot, but that pain grew so unbearable that he pulled himself out of Tuesday's series opener against the Yankees. A day later, the Devil Rays received their latest bad news, learning that Cantu is expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a fractured navicular bone in his left foot. The Rays placed Cantu, who was seen by New York foot and ankle specialist William Hamilton before Wednesday's game, on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Tuesday. The navicular bone is across the top of the middle part of the foot.
