The Yankees would be content if Derek Jeter agreed to a three-year deal that pays $21 million annually, but the shortstop wants at least four years and preferably five or six. The front office believes Jeter would be unable to find a deal that would come close to approaching their offer, but sources claim they are still fearful of the public relations nightmare that would ensue if they were to lose him. Jeter earned $21 million in 2010, the last year of a 10-year contract worth $189 million.
