The Cardinals are looking for an upgrade at shortstop. Brendan Ryan was a Gold Glove contender at the position, but he hit just .223 and manager Tony La Russa believes his offensive struggles sometimes carried over on defense. "When you think about Brendan's year defensively, it's going to be hard to find anything that's better than him," general manager John Mozeliak said. "But when you look to improve your offense, it has to be a consideration."
