Tigers right-handed pitching prospect Jacob Turner appears to have gotten comfortable playing for Lakeland of the Class A Advanced Florida State League. Turner has started 10 games for the Flying Tigers and has made a measured improvement since his debut with the team in late June. He is 4-2 with a 3.88 ERA, 2.91 K/BB ratio and a .250 batting average against overall, but his numbers are much better as of late. The Missouri native has won his last two starts and four of his last six. Since allowing 13 runs in his first three starts (a combined 12 innings), Turner has surrendered only seven runs in his last seven starts (34 1/3 innings). Over his last six starts, he has 21 strikeouts against just six walks. Turner was selected by the Tigers in the first round (No. 9 overall) of the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
