The Yankees were on the brink of acquiring Mariners pitcher Cliff Lee on Friday morning, a source told the New York Post. New York could send a package to Seattle that includes top prospect Jesus Montero. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and Mariners counterpart Jack Zduriencik have been in constant contact over the last week. The Yankees haven't been assured they'll land Lee because other clubs such as the Mets, Twins and Rangers were in talks as well. Ironically enough, New York is scheduled to face off against Lee on Friday night.
