Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton told a Dallas radio station on Tuesday that he's not planning to participate in the Home Run Derby at this year's All-Star Game.
"I ain't going to mess with it this year if I get voted in," Hamilton said.
Hamilton recorded an impressive performance in the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium in 2008, bashing a record 28 homers in the first round of the competition.
"I feel like, 'Why mess up a good thing?' " Hamilton said. "I've got nothing to prove. It's fun. I would like to do it, but you've got to think about the whole season and the club."
