The Pirates have named Jeff Karstens their starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. The decision is a significant one because Tuesday will mark the first start of Washington phenom Stephen Strasburg's major league career. "Jeff will be fine," Pirates manager John Russell said. "He seems to rise to the occasion. When we needed a win out of anyone on our pitching staff earlier this year in Milwaukee, he got the job done. I think this worked out pretty well for us." The right-hander did his best to downplay the importance. "Just another game," Karstens said. "No disrespect to Strasburg, but I don't have anything to be nervous about. He's the one who's all hyped up, and he backs it up with his stuff. But, for me, it's just another start. For him, it's going to be a packed house, probably more people than he's ever pitched in front of."
