Infielder Pokey Reese, in line to potentially win a starting job, was an unexcused absence by the Marlins on Friday, and he hasn't been in contact with the team in two days. General Manager Larry Beinfest says no one within the organization has heard from the two-time Gold Glove winner since Wednesday. The team has contacted Major League Baseball about the whereabouts of the 32-year-old second baseman. "It's unexcused," Beinfest said following the Marlins' 5-4 win over the Orioles on Friday. "He was not at the workout [Wednesday]. We've made efforts to contact him, also through his agent. We haven't found him. We want to make sure that he's OK, and we'll take it from there."
